He is an expert in digital media business and protection models and has over 20 years of experience. Jan has been a prominent voice in the TV Everywhere movement, authoring several papers on the challenges and opportunities of its implementation and speaking on panels at top industry conferences. Jan most recently served as CEO of Entriq. Before joining Entriq, Jan was CEO of MIHL’s technology division and Chairman of OpenTV Corp. Prior to that, he was CEO of OpenTV. Michael Ayers joined Verance Corporation in 2010 as Senior Vice President for Business & Legal Affairs and General Counsel after more than a decade of experience in the content protection business as legal counsel for Toshiba Corporation. Mr. Ayers’ involvement in content protection matters includes the application of multiple technologies to a wide variety of digital media and content, including DTCP for high-speed bi-directional home networks, CPRM for SD Card and recordable DVD formats, and CSS for Hollywood movies on DVD. For six years, he actively led AACS LA, LLC, the entity formed by Disney, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba and Warner Bros. to develop and license the AACS content protection technology used for high-definition movies on Blu-ray Disc.

Mr. Ayers’ work has also included digital TV standards in Europe as part of the DVB Project and more recently the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem (DECE), a multi-industry effort to create standards and an infrastructure for enabling the flexible use of digital content from a variety of sources across a variety of consumer devices.

Mr. Ayers is a registered patent attorney. He holds a BS in Aerospace Engineering and a Master of Public Administration, with an emphasis in Information Systems Management, from the University of Southern California. His J.D. is from Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa, California, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Whittier Law Review.

Dr. Wayne Huang is currently leading the corp. development team in STV, which is responsible for many aspects of STV’s media product licensing, anti-piracy product planning, and content distribution strategy for this US public company with Beijing as its headquarter. The team has played key role in gaining 60% of China cable STB CA card (Now over 60M household) by meeting China cable operator’s high demand of content protection in the tough piracy environment, where STV has been working closely with government legal agencis and operaotors ahieving great success for content protection. With the reputaiotn of content protection in China, the team also successfully licensed the distributed Warner Borther’s movie content and distributed through STV’s two sub divisions (Content delivery business unit after web order, similar to early version of NetFlix and home cinema VOD business unit).

Dr. Huang’s first anti-piracy and IP protection task started in early 90s when he worked for Motorola in Chicago as a technical manager, where is trained to teaming up with legal firms and provided his technical aspect evidence in flighting international piracy and IP violation. Recent years, he has been taking the lead in contributing the joint force of technical talents, government anti-piracy and industry associations (From US’s DEG to China SARFT), as well as media protection and distribution standard committees, as he strongly believes that only joint effort in the whole ecosystem will win in the anti-piracy war, and it is not just one company or one government agency’s task.

Dr. Huang received his BS degree from China’s Tsinghua University and a doctor degree from Columbia University in New York city.

Nicolas Chartier, the Academy Award-winning producer of The Hurt Locker, has been involved in the financing, production and sales of a diverse range of films for the past 10 years. In 2005, he founded Voltage Pictures, an International financing, sales and production operation. He has handled over 150 movies in the past 6 years. “The Hurt Locker” was Voltage Pictures first in-house production and claimed 6 Oscars in 2009, including Best Picture. Killer Joe is its second in-house film, directed by William Friedkin and starring Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch, which world premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September 2011. His next film The Company You Keep is being directed by Robert Redford and starring Robert Redford, Shia LaBeouf, Nick Nolte, Susan Sarandon, Richard Jenkins, Julie Christie, and Brit Marling.
