Variety, in partnership with The Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA), the international association advocating the secure and responsible delivery and storage of entertainment, software, and information media, announced today that their 4th Annual Content Protection Summit (CPS 2013) will beheld in Los Angeles on December 12, 2013 at the Four Seasons Hotel.
“This year’s Summit will offer a broader take on protecting content by approaching piracy from the perspectives of all content industries,” said CPS 2013 Conference Chair, Alex Kochis. “We have incorporated discussions on some of the most pressing issues and prevailing piracy trends and are designing a program that will give attendees the practical tools and insights they need to counter security threats while still delivering the content the way that people want it.”
L.A. Film Czar, Tom Sherak, to deliver Afternoon Keynote at CPS 2013!
Variety, in partnership with The Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA), has announced that actor/producer and former President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Tom Sherak bring his unique views as a creative and Hollywood thought leader about the evolution of piracy and its impact on the film industry.
Sherak, whose remarkable career has seen him at the pinnacle of motion picture marketing, distribution and production, is also consult for Marvel Studios and Relativity Media. Previously, Sherak was a partner at Revolution Studios and served as Chairman of Twentieth Century Fox Domestic Film Group after a long career at Fox where he oversaw the distribution and post-production of such films as “Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition,” “Mrs. Doubtfire,” “True Lies,” “Speed,” “Independence Day,” “Broken Arrow,” “Dr. Dolittle,” “The X-Files,” and “Star Wars: Episode 1–The Phantom Menace.” Sherak joined Fox from General Cinema, where he was Vice President and head film buyer and began his career in the film industry at Paramount Pictures in 1970 where he worked in the New York, Washington, D.C. and St. Louis distribution offices.
‘Walking Dead’ Executive Producer, Gale Anne Hurd to Keynote Variety and CDSA’s Content Protection Summit
Variety, in partnership with The Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA), has announced that Gale Anne Hurd, known as the “First Lady of Sci-Fi,” will be a keynote speaker at their 4th Annual Content Protection Summit (CPS) on December 12, 2013 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills.
Gale Anne Hurd is currently Executive Producer of ‘The Walking Dead,” which is the most-watched scripted drama on television today. She also produced and co-wrote “The Terminator,” which was quickly followed by Academy Award-winning “Aliens.” “Gale will offer a first-hand perspective on the effect of piracy on the business of popular content,” said CPS 2013 Conference Chair, Alex Kochis. “We are honored to have the producer of Academy Award-winning films, and Emmy-winning programs share her perspectives on the impact of piracy on a Hollywood hit.”
